KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Having a catch is as old as baseball itself. But the Kansas City Monarchs’ planned game of catch will be anything but ordinary.
The reigning American Association champions are hosting a 24-hour game of catch from Legends Field in Kansas City, Kansas.
The event leads up to the Monarchs’ first ever Friends Night presented by Hollywood Casino on Saturday, May 18, honoring the classic sitcom. It celebrates the 25th anniversary of the iconic Friends episode “The One With The Ball,” where characters from the show play catch for hours on end.
The Monarchs’ game of catch will take place on the concourse at Legends Field. It will begin at 6:35 p.m. on Friday, May 17. That’s the start time of the Monarchs’ game that night against the Winnipeg Goldeyes. It will continue through the night and culminate with the first pitch of the Monarchs’ Friends Night game on Saturday May 18, at 6:35 p.m.
Monarchs fans can get in on the fun and participate in the game of catch. Fans can sign up for half-hour shifts at MonarchsBaseball.com/Catch24. Fans participating in the game of catch will receive free tickets to an upcoming Monarchs game. The club will also bring celebrities to join the action.
