Gaby Guerrero, now former Kansas City Monarch, was moved to the inactive list following his retirement from the Monarchs. Guerrero made the most of his time as a Monarch, helping lead Kansas City to their 2021 championship title when Guerrero was awarded with the MVP of the league championship series. He went 14-for-27 in the postseason with one home run and 13 RBIs. Guerrero drove in six runs in the league championship series, going 6-for-14 in the series.

In Guerrero’s two seasons with the Monarchs, he appeared in 150 games. He finished with 132 RBIs, 27 home runs and a career .323 batting average in Kansas City. This past season, Guerrero was an All-Star reserve selection in the American Association. Guerrero’s consistent play at the plate propelled him to an All-Star selection in his last season with the Monarchs. Guerrero ended his 2022 campaign with eight home runs, 33 RBIs, 61 total hits, and a .305 batting average.

“It’s a sad day,” said manager Joe Calfapietra, “We lost a really good player, but we lost a really good person in this organization. There’s not too many of those guys walking around. He meant so much to us on and off the field. It’s going to be tough.”

Gaby Guerrero finishes his career with the Monarchs: a champion, All-Star, and most importantly, a beloved teammate.
