Kansas City Set to Collide With Sioux Falls in Opening Round of Playoffs
Kansas City, KS — After a division title winning season, the Kansas City Monarchs will battle the Sioux Falls Canaries in the first round of the Miles Wolff Cup Playoffs on Wednesday night at the Birdcage in Sioux Falls, SD. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35p.
It has been a tremendous season for Kansas City, but the real work starts now. They’re seeking their fifth league championship and the first since 2023. Manager Joe Calfapietra says, “The players are excited and we hope the Kansas City community continues their support of the Monarchs. The team looks forward to making a run to get the ball club back to the championship”
This comes as no surprise that the Monarchs chose Sioux Falls. Kansas City went 11-1 against the Canaries this season and outscored them 100-37. They have completed dominated Sioux Falls this season, but all that is in the rearview mirror as KC will need to bring their A game come Wednesday night. Joe says, “We look forward to a great series with Sioux Falls.”
This is just the second time that the Monarchs have faced Canaries in their playoff history. They swept them in the quarterfinals in 2023 and will look to do so once again.
Kansas City is scheduled to host game two of the quarterfinals at Legends Field with a 6:35p first pitch on Friday night. “We’re grateful to our fans for their support all season long,” Calfapietra said. The Monarchs faithful will need to show support on Friday with Saturday’s game TBD.
Playoff tickets are on sale now at monarchsbaseball.com. Tickets are $15 for any seat in the Plaza level. PostSeason Pass packages are also available for purchase.
