The Kansas City Monarchs are adding local and regional standout pitcher Brock Gilliam to the 2022 roster. In his first stint last year, in professional baseball Basehor’s own Brock Gilliam was 3-1 with a 2.49 earned run average over 12 games with the American Association Champion Kansas City Monarchs. Signed last July after completing a record setting (strikeouts in a season / all-time Ichabod strike out leader) career at Washburn (Topeka) and graduating, Gilliam pitched 21 and two thirds’ innings – had 20 strike outs and 9 walks. His 1st professional win came the first of August versus the Chicago Dogs in a relief appearance
In the 2021 American Association playoffs, the Basehor resident, Gilliam worked one playoff game at Sioux City in the 14-2 clinching Divisional Series win.
The Monarchs open 2022 training camp on May 5, 2022 at Legends Field in Kansas City, Kansas.
