Monarchs Close Preseason On A High Note

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City Monarchs’ hit parade proved too much for the Winnipeg Goldeyes in the teams’ preseason finale.

The Monarchs used 12 singles to pace past the Goldeyes, 5-2, at Legends Field. Kansas City scored five unanswered runs to claim victory in the eight-inning exhibition.

Kansas City overcame an early 2-0 Winnipeg lead in the middle innings. Jaylyn Williams scored on a wild pitch in the third to cut the lead to one.

Robbie Glendinning gave Kansas City the lead with a two-RBI single in the sixth inning. 

Glendinning led the Monarchs with six RBIs in KC’s two preseason contests.

The Monarchs used three consecutive hits to pull away in the seventh. Ross Adolph, Alvaro Gonzalez and Jorge Bonifacio each slapped singles to extend Kansas City’s lead to 5-2.

The Monarchs’ bullpen was phenomenal for the second straight day. The quartet of Liam Mendez, Will Stevens, Collin Brougham and Blake Goldsberry each hung zeroes.

Tyler McKay dealt a scoreless eighth to round out the victory.
